They need a horse...

I am still looking for a horse for myself and a pony for my girls.  We will be taking lessons on the pony, Caviar over the next few weeks.  I will be taking a closer look at Molly (the Palomino I photographed a few days ago) sometime this week, I believe.  Patience is the key here as there are a lot of horses out there and this is a long-term decision.

Below is a "Horse Portrait" of one of the horses at the stable I hope to board my horse(s) at:

I'm excited to see what horse/pony you choose. It is a hard decision!

Are you still considering buying Caviar? Taking lessons would be a great, safe way to try her out, I really like that idea.

You're so right about it being a long-term decision. I'm practically married to my horses. But that's after several failures and having to sell horses that were above my level as a beginner. Not fun. Not terrible either, no horror stories, but it's hard to sell horses.

Good luck on your search! Be picky! And don't let good looks push you to make allowances for bad behavior or lack of training. That's never gone well for me. Luckily my ugly duckling grew into a horse I love to look at.

Beautiful horse photo. Take your time and get just the right horse for you and pony for the girls. You're so right that this is a long time decision. Don't forget to have the horses vetted before purchase too, including x-rays.

Thanks for all advice. I'm driving north up into Va next week to look at 5 or so horses. I looked at a QH today and one on Sunday. Patience! And I'm trying to remain objective and not fall in love with each one!
