Spring is here and it is nice to see green and yellow! The birds wake me early in the morning and I'm wearing sunglasses. BUT... I'm still working on Oberon and Sebastian's winter coats. I have a curry comb and a shedding blade/sweat scraper that work as they should.. but does anyone have a "MAGIC" brush? (other than electric clippers ;)
Sunday we had a great time with a photo shoot. I have been playing around with the idea submitting a few photos to stock photography company. There are so many out there. Does anyone have any experience in this field? And of course, my own critical monster in my head makes me hesitate. I just have so much to still learn about photography. I look back at some of my earlier attempts and cringe. Will I look back at these and say... "yuck"? ;)
I have become much more detail oriented in composition and lighting... I almost never use a flash now, just available light, and I have narrowed my field of interest down to a few specific things, which is supposedly a good thing if one wants to be a stock photographer...
So, any information would be appreciated as I really know nothing about it.
I have a small stiff brush that I really like, because it holds the hairs and I do not have to sweep them up, just pull them off the brush and directly into the garbage they go. Grooming blocks are kind of magical. They are better for the end of the season when the coat is almost done shedding.
ReplyDeleteI think your photography is beautiful and worthy of payment.
No advice at all to give about stock photography. But you take beautiful photographs so if I were you I'd give it a shot!
ReplyDeleteNo idea on the stock photography either but I do know that you are super talented with that camera!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree on the flash thing ~ If the natural lighting isn't right, I don't take the picture.
no experience on the stock photography, I just know youre good enough! Cant tell you how much I enjoy your horses and photos - thanks for the journey!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I filled out a request and submitted a few. Just waiting to hear back. Thanks for all your kind encouragement .
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about stock photography so I can't help there. Those shots are gorgeous though. I LOVE that first one. Wow. I really need to get more detail oriented lol.
ReplyDeleteAs for the shedding I think I read somewhere that people use baby oil to get rid of the winter coat faster (I've never tried it). They put the oil on (very messy!) and let it sit, then give them a regular bath. If you want to go a less messy route then I think just a bath in general might help. I just use a rubber curry and go in circles. I do it almost every day all year though so he never seems to turn into a total wooly bear. Or it could be the Arabian in him hehe. Everyone all winter commented on how great and shiny he looked though, so I guess elbow grease really does the trick hehe.
