Eddie - A Horse I wish I could add to the two I already own!

Now I ADORE my two handsome fellows and I couldn't be happier with them, however , IF I was in the market for another horse (or if I was able to convince my husband, which I'm not) this is the horse I would look at first.  I have nothing go gain by promoting this horse for sale.  I have visited this place which is literally upon a mountaintop in Virginia (Mountaintop Ranch) and almost purchased a Connemara pony from them - but decided upon my Quarter Horse, Oberon, instead.

HERE is a link to their website.    Sigh, how I wish I could add Eddie to my family - I mean, can one ever have too many horses (my husband says yes!)  Maybe you can or know of someone who would be perfect for this amazing horse.  Take a few moments and remember this horse is only 7!

And HERE is a direct link to the "riding horses" for sale at Mountaintop Ranch.  He is the third one down, Doc's Dee Watch "Eddie".  I am doing my best to promote this fellow around my barn!  ;)

This second video has it all:  ring work, trail riding across streams, pasture with cattle and running horses, tandem bareback with young children on roadside with car, crossing a stream,  sigh...

  1. He sure is a nice horse- some lucky kid should have that horse. Would also be a good one for a timid older rider- this horse would build confidence.

  2. Sorry, Margaret. I am sure that Eddie is a very nice horse, but I did not like these videos.

I am unable to ignore the fact that the children are not wearing helmets, especially on the road and practicing around the world for the first time without anyone even holding the horse. This is terribly foolish and ruins the presentation for me.

I was also not impressed by the adult's two-handed riding in the curb to make him round. Eddie did not seem happy with that either.

  3. I agree - helmets are a safety feature I insist my girls wear and I do wear a helmet 95% of the time. But many people don't. I NEVER wore one growing up and I would have been laughed at if I had. Most children and adults will be just fine not wearing one. But, like I said, my children and I wear a helmet.

What I like about Eddie is that he is obviously a wonderful pleasure horse and has an amazing demeanor for any age... and he is only 7! That is why I really wanted to share this video.

I have been on that road as I almost bought a horse from them. It is WAY up in the mountains with very little traffic. I wonder if that wasn't their mom in the truck as it looks to me like it stops ahead on the road.

I am a pleasure/trail rider who is learning dressage and freedom work for my own pleasure, at this point, not for the show ring.

  4. He is a very nice looking boy and goes across water extremely well. I don't understand why they don't have a helmet on, but the horse is really nice. :/ That just distracts from him, unfortunately. Where is he located and how much are they asking? I'll pass it along.

  5. He looks like such a sweetie. I'm 'casually' in the market for a second horse and I spend a lot of time going, "This one would be a nice addition."

  6. Linda - They are asking $6,500. He is young and well trained. I attached a link above on my blog.

  8. Aside from the constant rambling and lack of helmets I really liked this sale video! I wish more people would take the time to actually show off their sale horses' talents and personalities. He seems like a really nice horse, but I wonder how long they have been riding him and how hard. Also I like to teach all of my horses some lower level dressage so I would probably shy from him because of the way they were asking him to move in a false frame (with a curb bit???). Seems like there would be some retraining (I prefer a clean slate which is why I bought a weanling, just personal preference) having to be done in that area. Still he seems really great! Especially for a kid's trail horse. :) I hope he finds a really good home where he is appreciated and loved.

  9. Margaret, thanks so much for dropping by my new blog and leaving your comment...I have to tell you when I opened this blog I heart started racing....Your header is beautiful and a blog all about horses....WOW.....
I had a horse growing up, then left it for awhile until my half century mark and then love again.....About three years ago, I lost my girl, Casey, to bladder cancer and I am having a hard time replacing her....but my love of horses has never wained....

I love your blog, your newest member, and I will definitely be back.
