I have BABY photos of Oberon!!!

I was SO lucky to get these from the lady who used to own him.  A few were sent to me from his breeder.  I look at my boy now with different eyes... I can see his baby face now at times when he does something silly...

The photo below is NOT Oberon.  I'm not sure who it is, I think maybe his brother who is for sale, posted at the bottom of this page.  This is Oberon's mother, though.  I just wanted to share this precious photo...

Oberon (his original name was Buck and then Murphy) as a newborn above and a "teenager" (yearling) below.  I am patiently growing out his mane and am glad to see it will look nice.

And below is his pretty Mama.  Her name is Berry.

And this handsome fellow is his half brother.  The share the same mother.  He is for sale and I can forward his contact information to anyone who is interested.  He lives in Wisconsin.

  4. He was a beautiful baby, and he's beautiful now. Interesting that his mama is a bay roan; his daddy must have been a buckskin or palomino for him to be the color he is. His brother is a good looker too.

  6. Oh I do love red roans- strawberry- whatever you choose. What did his sire look like that he ended up Buckskin!?

  7. He’s such a sweet little chap in these photos, it’s always nice to see them as youngsters, good to see he hasn’t lost any of his good looks with age :) he’s a nice horse.

  8. He was an adorable baby who turned into a stunning horse. It's so nice to have pictures of them as babies. Wish we did for our horses. We do have one of Blue but it's on his papers and not the best photo. His mom is pretty and his half brother is good looking too.

  9. So sorry I haven't visited in so long! I'm so behind on reading blogs, but I will get caught up soon I promise. I'll definitely be back to read this post, but just wanted to answer your comment on my blog. First I wanted to say thank you so much for your comment. :D Chrome was actually totally fine with leaving the herd because we've been doing that since he was five months old. He loves going out and has no herd bound tendencies at all. The only time he was a problem was when he first got excited about the neighbor's horses (but he listened and kept going), when he spooked at the big rig (but he didn't touch me and settled immediately) and when he was trying to graze/wouldn't leave the grass (bad planning on my part). I'll definitely walk him in the rope halter from now on, but I still would like to practice him being more responsive off a flat nylon halter at home. I don't even know why I did that except I think it's just so cute on him and I wanted pictures of him in it. I think I was wanting to do two different things (walk someplace new we've never been and get cute pictures of cute Chrome in his new halter) and tried to do them all at once lol. In my defence I had to get up really early for work so maybe I'm foggy headed lol. It all turned out okay. My lip is fine and doesn't hurt anymore (although I'll definitely be swishing salt water since it's cut). I've learned my lesson about leading him out without the rope halter and a whip (as you said, not for whipping, just for getting his attention when he won't leave the grass). I guess even though I've been around horses my whole life I still just have to learn my lesson the hard way sometimes lol. Thank you for your comment. It made me feel better about how Chrome did. He's a great horse and I haven't totally ruined him (which is how I felt earlier), I just need to refresh some of his lessons and teach him to respect my space and listen to me. :)

  11. Awww, he was an adorable baby!! And his mom is cute too. I'm glad you got baby pictures of him. The breeder I got Chrome from sent some to me when I got his paperwork and I just love having them. :)

Also in response to your comment on my blog, Oh no, I don't hate rope halters at all. I love them and am perfectly content to always use one with him. I just really love the color and style of the new halter. It's my favorite colors and pops against his coat, so I wanted pictures of him in it on a walk. I just should have gone for a walk somewhere we've already been (with no grass lol). I still plan to use my rope halter, probably for his whole life, but I like to mix it up for pictures because he's so cute in it. :D It was just a lapse of judgement on my part trying to mix something new with a new halter.

  13. great baby photos! It's funny, when I first got my grey gelding his name was Oberon, but it just didn't fit him (maybe because I had studied Midsummer's Night Dream a little TOO much as an English major!). His name was switched to "Lux" meaning "light" :)
